Helium Mobile: Launching a licensing program for hotspot devices.
Sep 12, 2024 06:42:06
ChainCatcher news, according to Blockworks, Helium Mobile has announced that it is launching a licensing program for its hotspot devices. Helium Mobile's hotspots allow individuals or businesses to create "mini cell towers" that transmit mobile signals and receive tokens in exchange.
According to the Helium website, there are currently several third-party manufacturers and suppliers providing services for the Helium IoT network, but Helium Mobile is currently the only supplier offering devices for mobile signal coverage. Through the licensing program, Helium Mobile aims to earn licensing fees from hotspots manufactured elsewhere while expanding its cellular network.
It is reported that Helium Mobile is developed by Nova Labs. The mobile plan operates by combining proprietary distributed network coverage with services purchased from T-Mobile by Helium Mobile. The plan was first trialed in Miami and then launched nationwide last December, with a monthly fee of $20.
