Storj acquires cunoFS creator PetaGene to enhance AI capabilities in data-intensive industries

ChainCatcher news, according to PR Newswire, Storj announced the acquisition of PetaGene, the creator of cunoFS, to consolidate the growth momentum driven by Storj's recent acquisition of the distributed GPU provider Valdi. Storj now offers distributed cloud object storage, distributed on-demand GPU computing, and distributed file storage installations. These features collectively provide seamless access to distributed cloud for video and AI workloads, enhancing performance, security, cost, and carbon savings for more edge and global customers.

cunoFS, developed by PetaGene, is a high-performance installation client that is expected to revolutionize the cloud workflows of data-intensive media and entertainment industries, as well as users of all cloud platforms and object storage providers. In addition to the Linux client, cunoFS launched a Windows native client at IBC 2024, with its macOS native client set to be released later this year.
