ChainCatcher news, according to the Financial Times, leading UK fintech company Revolut is considering accelerating its entry into the local market by acquiring a licensed bank in the United States. Sources revealed that this move would allow for a quicker attainment of U.S. banking qualifications, particularly for loan business licenses, compared to applying for a license independently.
Currently, Revolut, which has 60 million customers worldwide, is advancing a $1 billion financing plan to support its international expansion strategy. The company has obtained banking licenses in Lithuania and Mexico and completed the acquisition of the Argentine bank Cetelem last month. Regarding specific plans for the U.S. market, Revolut officials declined to comment.
