The Ethereum Foundation will optimize the implementation path of the ecosystem support program and temporarily suspend public funding applications

ChainCatcher news, according to official information, the Ethereum Foundation has announced that it is optimizing the focus areas and implementation paths of the Ecosystem Support Program (ESP). As part of this transition, public funding applications have been temporarily suspended.

This adjustment will give the Foundation time to redesign the funding model, shifting the focus to strategic planning, moving from passive responses to proactive initiatives, while also supporting the priorities of other teams within the Ethereum Foundation.

The Foundation mentioned that it has been continuously optimizing processes and improving efficiency over the past three years. However, as a publicly funded program with limited resources and a wide reach, the influx of applications has consumed most of its time and energy, making it difficult to free up resources to explore new strategic opportunities.

The Foundation will continue to fund Ethereum public goods and accept applications, but will adopt a new approach, with specific details to be outlined in future announcements. The focus areas and implementation paths after the optimization of the ESP will be announced in the fourth quarter of 2025.
