ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and colleagues urged the Trump administration to disclose more information about its interactions with Binance.
On Thursday, Warren and others stated in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi that they are seeking to understand the details of Binance's compliance obligations in the U.S. The senators first inquired in May about the conversations between Binance and federal cabinet officials, concerning Binance's exit from the U.S. market, regulatory obligations, and the measures the Department of Justice is taking to ensure compliance, and also asked whether former CEO Changpeng Zhao could receive a presidential pardon. They pointed out that since May, Trump and his family have strengthened their financial ties with Binance through companies, and this week there were reports that Binance may reach an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to replace external compliance overseers. Three lawmakers believe the Department of Justice has not adequately responded to previous inquiries and requested an updated response by October 1. They also stated that while the Department of Justice claims Binance has paid fines and has ongoing requirements under the plea agreement, it has not confirmed whether Binance is indeed in compliance.
