According to Techinasia, the Bank of Indonesia will launch a digital version of the Indonesian Rupiah (Rupiah Digital), which is a digital version of the Indonesian Rupiah Securities (Sekuritas Rupiah Bank Indonesia, SRBI), and it will be rolled out in phases before 2030.

The Bank of Indonesia plans to proceed gradually, starting with trials for digital securities issuance, transfers, and withdrawals between 2025 and 2026. From 2027 to 2028, further testing of currency operations and financial market transactions will take place, followed by the introduction of advanced features such as programmability, composability, and tokenization between 2029 and 2030. According to the Bank of Indonesia's "2030 Payment System Blueprint," the digital version of the Indonesian Rupiah will be built on distributed ledger technology.
