ElizaOS Founder: The threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin is nonsense, and speculators know nothing

ElizaOS founder Shaw expressed views on "quantum computing threats to Bitcoin," stating that its realization is much further away than current media reports suggest. For hash functions like SHA-256, Grover's algorithm only reduces the search space from 2²⁵⁶ to 2¹²⁸, but 2¹²⁸ is still infeasible to break. Shor's algorithm can theoretically break RSA/ECDSA encryption, but current quantum computers typically rely on optimizations that use pre-processing or prior knowledge of factors, rather than a pure implementation of Shor's algorithm.

To crack Bitcoin's real-time operating network, rapid repeated execution is needed; if feasible, all encrypted data would be exposed, and Bitcoin would then be a minor issue. Modern cryptography has assumed future computational growth from the very beginning, and quadratic speedup was anticipated and considered decades ago. Whenever you see fear or hype surrounding quantum computing, remember: these people know nothing at all.
