According to Cointelegraph, security researcher Andrey Sergeenkov pointed out that the recent surge in Ethereum transactions and address activity may stem from address poisoning attacks initiated on a large scale by taking advantage of low Gas fees.

This attack involves "dusting attacks" by spoofing similar addresses, tricking users into transferring funds to the wrong addresses. After the Fusaka upgrade, transaction fees dropped by over 60%, significantly reducing the cost of such attacks. Research shows that more than 116,000 people have been affected, with total losses exceeding $740,000.
