According to market news, Arkham's 2026 Ethereum holdings analysis report indicates that the address holding the most ETH is the Ethereum 2 deposit contract, which has deposited over 76.3 million ETH (worth approximately $24 billion), accounting for over 60% of the total ETH supply. The exchange Binance ranks second with 4.1 million ETH (about $1.3 billion) held on behalf of its clients, while ETF issuer BlackRock holds 3.4 million ETH (approximately $1.1 billion). The on-chain confirmed holdings of Ethereum treasury company Bitmine are 2.9 million ETH (around $900 million), with total holdings reportedly exceeding 4.1 million ETH.
In terms of individual holders, Ethereum presale investor Rain Lohmus ranks first with 250,000 ETH (approximately $786 million), but the private key for that wallet has been lost. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin holds 240,000 ETH (about $754 million), making him the second-largest individual holder of ETH and the largest among currently accessible addresses. The U.S. government holds about 60,000 ETH, primarily from asset seizures related to the Brian Krewson, Potapenko/Turogin, and Bitfinex hacker cases. The report notes that exchange addresses constitute the majority of the top 20 ETH holders.
