According to Theblock, the Israeli prosecution has filed charges against a reservist from the Israel Defense Forces and a civilian, accusing them of using military confidential information to place bets on the blockchain-based prediction market platform Polymarket.
The prosecution alleges that the reservist obtained sensitive operational intelligence through his military position and shared this information with the civilian, who then used it to place bets on events related to military operations on Polymarket.
The Tel Aviv District Court has lifted the injunction at the request of the National Prosecutor's Office's Cyber Department. The suspects were arrested in a joint operation by the Israeli Security Agency, police, and the Defense Ministry's security investigation department. The two defendants are charged with serious security-related offenses, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
