The Financial Services Agency of Japan supports empirical experiments on anti-money laundering for cryptocurrencies, with participation from several well-known companies

According to CoinPost, the Financial Services Agency of Japan has announced that it will support a pilot project for anti-money laundering (AML) measures concerning crypto assets (virtual currencies). The project was applied for by Hitachi, and 13 companies are participating, including GMO Coin, Chainalysis Japan, NEC, JPYC, and Bitbank.

The experiment will take place from March to May 2026, primarily to verify the effectiveness of sharing suspicious wallet address information among multiple cryptocurrency exchanges and stablecoin operators, aiming to build a more efficient industry-wide anti-money laundering system.
