Atomicals Protocol: The AVM white paper has been released, and the software rollout will be completed in phases.

ChainCatcher news, the Atomicals Protocol has released the Atomicals Virtual Machine (AVM) white paper. The software release will be completed in phases, starting with the interpreter operation, followed by modifications to the indexer nodes.

The white paper states that currently, all overlay digital asset protocols on Bitcoin create and transfer digital assets according to fixed rules. By allowing programmers to define state machine logic to establish creation and transfer rules, fully flexible (Turing-complete) smart contracts can be created for overlay digital assets. It proposes a solution called the Atomicals Virtual Machine (AVM), which utilizes Bitcoin as a global database, storing smart contract code in transactions and executing this code in a sandbox runtime environment, thereby enabling smart contracts. The proposed solution is a natural step in the evolution of overlay digital asset protocols on Bitcoin, while also serving as a testing platform for the original Bitcoin opcodes to demonstrate their flexibility and security.
